ORDERING, SITE PREPARATION, and INSTALLATION
What Are The Space Requirements For The System?
The SILIENT Model L/LM/LMX Residential Systems can be installed in a configuration with a floor footprint of 6’x3’. See the User Guide for more details on footprint and configuration.
What are the ventilation requirements for the system?
The installation location must be able to remove ~15k BTU’s from the room where the SILIENT system is installed.
This can be performed by a mini split, a dedicated thermostat and isolated duct to the installation room from the main AC unit, or for an additional cost, the SILIENT system can include a 10” vent port on the top of the chiller box to vent heat directly from the system into an exhaust space. There is no harmful exhaust from the SILIENT system, only heat.
Do you need dedicated WiFi for the SILIENT system to operate?
The system requires WiFi to connect to the smartphone control app and set the on-demand chilled water temperature and to choose between the SILIENT chilled water and the normal municipal water source. Additionally, the WiFi network provides system diagnostics to our cloud based database for reporting on system health.
Can the SILIENT system be installed outdoors?
No, the cold water chiller for the SILIENT system needs to be installed indoors in a temperature-controlled space.
Who should perform my installation?
A licensed plumber is required for the plumbing connections and a licensed electrician is required for the electrical connections. Typically a general contractor manages the installation and coordinates the process in a remodel or new build and works with our team on technical details.
How invasive is the installation?
The installation of the SILIENT system is non-invasive. The main chiller system is installed in the utility room, requiring access to a municipal tap water line for the tank inlet and an insulated plumbing line for the chilled water discharging from the tanks to the shower heads or fixtures.
Please see more details in the User Guide for full installation details and requirements.
What are the high level steps involved after purchasing the SILIENT system?
- Contact the SILIENT team for a free consultation to discuss your specific setup with you or your installation contractor.
- After purchase, shipping times can range from 30-60 days for the main chiller system.
- Your installation contractor can prepare the site while the system is being prepared for shipment (see User Guide)
- Your installation contractor installs the SILIENT system
Please see additional details in the User Guide on installation steps.
Is the circulating pump for the chiller included as part of the system?
Yes, the pump circulating the water between the tanks and the chiller system is included in the SILIENT system.
Are there any additional components I need to install that are not included in the system?
The plumbing connections require a backflow preventer and leak detector on the inlet and plumbing insulation on the chilled water line to the home faucets and fixtures if the chilled water is set below the dew point. Additional details are included in the User Manual.
TECHNICAL
How long does it take for SILIENT to chill my home’s tap water?
The ice-cold water chilled to your desired temperature sits in an insulated tank prepared for on-demand use.The chilling process after use typically takes around 2-5 hours depending on operating conditions including the desired cold water temperature, the tap water temperature, the ambient temperature where the SILIENT system is operating and the SILIENT model.
How does SILIENT connect to my home plumbing?
The SILIENT water chiller system is connected to your plumbing in your utility room in the same way your water heater is connected to your plumbing. SILIENT takes municipal water in, chills the water using a proprietary water chilling system, stores the chilled water in an insulated cold-optimized tank and delivers chilled water to your existing showers and bathtubs on-demand. There are two plumbing connections made to the exposed pipes in your utility room (inlet and outlet).
How do I turn on the Silient ice-cold water in my shower or bath?
Simply turn on your faucet in your bath or shower. You can set the “Chilled Water On” setting in the app to change between delivering the SILIENT chilled water or the normal tap water at any time. If you leave the “Chilled Water On” setting to “On” all of the time, you will only receive SILIENT chilled water down the plumbing lines where the system is attached.
What size showers and bathtubs does the SILIENT system support?
The SILIENT Model L is intended for showers, the SILIENT Model LM is intended for showers and baths, and the SILIENT Model LMX is intended for showers and large baths. The systems can produce approximately 70% of the tank volume at the desired temperature in a single discharge, meaning for an 80 gallon tank (Model LM) you’d be able to discharge 56 gallons of water at the desired temperature in a single discharge before the temperature started to increase from mixing with the warmer tap water in the tank.
How cold can the water get?
The SILIENT main chiller system is capable of chilling water down to 39°F.
What power is required for my system?
208/230v 60Hz 1Ph L1, L2, G, N hardwire connection on a 20 amp breaker is needed to connect the main chiller system.
How much water is used by the system?
This is dependent on how often the cold water is being used. The system only discharges water when the faucets and fixtures are in use.
What is the estimated electricity cost per day to run the system?
Depending on the cost of electricity in your area and the system usage, you can expect an estimated cost of around $0.40-$0.90 per day.
USE and MAINTENANCE
How do I control my system?
The SILIENT main chiller system is an IOT (“Internet of Things”) device and can be controlled by any iOS device (iPhone, iPad, etc).
The interface is used to set the temperature of the chilled water stored in the tanks for on-demand use and to also change between normal tap water and the SILIENT chilled water.

What is the warranty for the SILIENT system?
We back our equipment with the following warranties:
- 1-Year comprehensive warranty on chilling components and SILIENT supplied parts

How loud is the SILIENT system?
The SILIENT cold water chiller system operates at ~70 decibels.
